    CASE STUDY
PERTH ZOO, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Perth Zoo provides its animals with a naturalistic habitat. All instalations were required to keep in with this theme. New perimeter security was needed to prevent local feral animals from penetrating the existing fence line and raiding the zoo and animal stocks. The gardens are also an integral part of the Zoo with many significant plantings including trees over 100 years old.

CHALLENGES

All fencing was required to be aesthicaly pleasing to gain approval of local political factions whilst utilising heritage listed concrete plinth wall and fit palisade fence to suit.

SOLUTIONS

The special “D” pale palisade fence system was specifically designed to impede feral animals and foxes from entering the zoo grounds. The project required complicated civil works to be carried out whilst installing fence lines in order to retain the heritage listed trees and tree roots.

Black powder coating finishing was applied to all fencing lines and gates for aesthetics and 80% of the solution was designed and constructed complete with the probable attack from local drinking establishments.

The site required a total of 2.2km of Palisade fencing with 3m D Profile Single Spear Top Pales.
